Sigma Omega Upsilon prides itself on its unique pillars that further development professionally, socially, and culturally. These dynamic pillars contribute to the qualities that we aspire to embody in order to not only become global students, but global leaders.
Professional Pillar
In building leaders and equipping brothers in preparation for successful professional careers, the Professional Pillar provides an extensive network of resources including resume workshops, interview training, case competitions, and guest speakers from various industries.
Social Pillar
Through our social pillar, the brothers of Sigma Omega Upsilon build lifelong relationships and a network of developing professionals. We hold social events every semester such as our brotherhood bonding retreat, formal, semi-formal, intramural sports, and other activities in order to strengthen the everlasting bond between our brothers.
Cultural Pillar
The Cultural Pillar sets us apart from other business organizations in the sense that we pride ourselves in being global citizens. Global awareness of current events and appreciation for different cultures are only some of the characteristics the cultural pillar strives to embody. As part of our cultural pillar our brotherhood has cultural coffee hours, cultural cooking nights, and take part in many cultural events across Columbia such as the Columbia International Festival.
Philanthropy
Although not officially one of the founding core pillars, Philanthropy is another aspect that Sigma Omega Upsilon prides itself upon. Brothers of SOU give back to our community with various volunteer opportunities with local organizations and non-profit groups. Being an active member within the community is an essential attribute that furthers success and development.
