Sigma Omega Upsilon welcomes a new pledge class each Spring and Fall semester during their formal recruitment process, also commonly referred to as "rush."
What is rush?
Rush is a five day process where brothers strive to get to know potential new members. We want to ensure that potential new members will be a good fit for our fraternity of exemplary leaders. The first few nights are open to all--the latter are invitation only.
Am I qualified to rush?
Sigma Omega Upsilon welcomes all majors - (although we are an international business professional fraternity). We are firm believers that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. All academic levels are welcome excluding those in their final semester of USC. We also require a 3.0 GPA.
What do I wear to rush?
Business Casual Attire is required for the first two nights, then Business Professional Attire will be required after and for the invitation only evenings. More information regarding this will be posted on our recruitment page here. If you have any specific questions, please reach out and ask us!
What does recruitment consist of?
A break-down of each evening with our Brothers will be posted here once dates are confirmed. You can expect a meet & greet the Brotherhood evening, speed dating, case competitions, and so forth.
Do I have to attend all days of recruitment?
No, we understand that sometimes your schedule will conflict with our times and dates. We HIGHLY encourage you to attend all evenings if possible. Potential new members are expected to attend at least three out of the five evenings.
Can I participate in a social fraternity or sorority and also be a member of SOU?
Yes! Many of our brothers are members of fraternities and sororities on campus alike.
